Former Chelsea boss Avram Grant is hoping to return to management in the Premier League...
Israeli tactician Avram Grant enjoyed a largely successful stint at the Stamford Bridge helm. He was handed one if the hardest tasks in world football in succeeding popular boss José Mourinho.
He had previously held a technical director post with Portsmouth, before close friend Roman Abramovich made him director of football at Chelsea.
Following his shock appointment, Grant led the Blues to the Champions League final, the Carling Cup final and saw his side beaten to the Premier League title by Manchester United at the death.
He was nevertheless sacked after less than a year in the job, despite not losing a single home game in the league.
Grant decided against returning to his former role as director of football, preferring instead to take time out.
Now, though, the 53-year-old is pining for a return to English football.
"A return? Yes, I love the Premier League," he told Sky Sports.
"All my life I wanted to come to the Premier League especially when I have such good memories from a professional level.
"I like to coach, I like the challenge so anything that is a challenge is good for me."
Grant has been linked with Portsmouth, with reports suggesting that Fratton Park supremo Sacha Gaydamak has him in mind if rookie Tony Adams flunks.
