The People reports that Tottenham gaffer Harry Redknapp will fight it out with Manchester City boss Mark Hughes to lure Wayne Bridge from Chelsea...
Reports have suggested that Gareth Bale could be subject to a January bid from Manchester United. New Spurs boss Redknapp already wanted cover for the position, but the situation could become more urgent if Bale moves on.
Thus, he's targeting Chelsea's Wayne Bridge, according to The People, who're reporting that Spurs have already expressed to the Blues their interest in signing the fringe man.
The 28-year-old is keen to kick-start his career and is said to be frustrated with the perpetual battle for playing time with Ashley Cole.
It could take as much as £7 million to take him from Stamford Bridge, but boss Luiz Felipe Scolari is keen to bolster his tiny January transfer war chest and will surely be tempted.
Manchester City are also desperate to add a quality left-back to their squad. They've also been linked with Marseille's Nigerian international Taye Taiwo, who would fetch a similar price to Bridge.
Neither Javier Garrido nor Michael Ball are seen as long-term starters at Eastlands, while stopper Micah Richards has been shunted out wide on more than one occasion already this season.
It remains to be seen how willing Bridge will be to consider leaving the Blues set-up.
